A Hoot & Cute to Boot: Comedian Sommore
The cocoa-skinned beauty's approachable demeanor instantly makes you smile. "I'm a real woman that understands real sista sh*t." She frowns on artificiality and recognizes her audience wouldn't accept her 'perfect', i.e. breast implants, weaves and Botox. "My ass is flat, I'm holding my stomach in, but I'm working on it," sista Sommore testifies. Laughs aside, Sommore's honesty, sass and self-acceptance are among her most striking traits. The entertainer is a role model of self-prophesy as she lives as she advises. She is adamant that women must embrace who they are and work on what they have by exercising and eating right.
COCOACHiC is black beauty defined — confidence, urban, sophisticated, authentic, modern, chocolate, sistas looking good as they do it for themselves. Why is Sommore COCOACHiC? Her take: "I look good, but I'm not perfect. I'm confident. My [signature beauty] look is smoky eyes, a nude gloss because lipstick comes off on stage, sexy brows, and some cleavage. Then I'm set to go on stage and bring the house down." When asked to define what she represents, Sommore coolly stated without pause or hesitation: "the inner city woman who always knew she could do better and refused to give up." Funny enough, as she strives to break the rules of unfair play in the male-dominated entertainment industry, she wouldn't dare do so without her game face. "I can't live without my eyebrow pencil," she giddily admits.
No Joke Makeup & Hair
After applying moisturizer, our CHiC Makeup Artist Jewel played up Sommore's almond-shaped eyes blending Bobbi Brown Mahogany, Stila Cosmetics, M·A·C Girlie and Lancome Color Design Positive eye shadows. Three eye liners — Prestige Liquid Liner in Black on top, Clinique Quickliner for Eyes in Really Black all over and M·A·C Eye Pencil Coffee on bottom — and Lancome L'Extreme Mascara were used to define her eyes. M·A·C LUSTREGLASS in Beaux, a nude shimmer beige-brown lip color, balanced the smoked eyes and made Sommore grin gorgeous.
Our CHiC Hair Artist Juliet from Indra Salon jazzed Sommore's short hair using scissors for a razor cut effect into a semi-Mohawk — longer in the middle and shorter on the sides. After her shampoo, her hair was wrapped with Paul Mitchell Foaming Pommade for a 30-minute dryer set. Jane Carter Solution Hair Nourishing Cream was applied before her blow dry. For a finishing touch, her flirty layers were flat-ironed and then finger-wisped spikes were dabbed with TIGI Bed Head Hard to Get Texturizing Paste in different directions for hold, shine and a look with pizzazz.  More images of black women need to be celebrated: "I speak to young people and all they aspire to be is a rapper or singer. As a people, we need more than that. We need accountants, lawyers, gynecologists and others besides artists and stars. We must place ourselves in other aspects and reach out. I'm feeling COCOACHiC and what you all are doing."- Less is so more: "If you want to make a fashion statement, just let one thing stand out — hair, handbag or glasses. I have to have my sunglasses; I have a weakness for Chanel and Christian Dior."
- Do more for yours: "No lie, I will ride or die for my stylists. These are the people that keep me looking good."
