The American Heart Association (AHA) is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Heart disease and stroke are the No. 1 and No. 3 killers of women. They are two of the many cardiovascular diseases that kill nearly 500,000 women each year. African-American and Hispanic women face the highest risk of death from heart disease and stroke, but they have the lowest risk factor awareness of any racial or ethnic group. Heart health education among African-American women is crucial.
Support Go Red for Women. It is the American Heart Association's national call for women to take charge of their heart health and live stronger, longer lives.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation's (NBCF) mission is to save lives by increasing awareness of breast cancer through education and by providing mammograms for those in need.
- Every two minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer.
- One woman in eight who lives to age 85 will develop breast cancer during her lifetime.

Their motto describes a commitment to self-preservation: "Our People, Our Problem, Our Solution."
- Blacks are 13 percent of the U.S. population, but represent over 54 percent of all new HIV infections.
- Black women represent 69 percent of new HIV infections among women in the U.S.
- African-American women have a 18 times greater diagnoses rate than White women.

Colon Cancer Alliance (CCA) is a national nonprofit organization made up of colon and rectal cancer survivors, caregivers and people with a genetic predisposition to colorectal cancer (CRC). CCA brings the voice of survivors to battle colorectal cancer through patient support, education, research and advocacy. Colorectal cancer is highly preventable with screening techniques that can catch the cancer when it is still treatable. Yet it is the nation's second leading cancer killer trailing only lung cancer in annual U.S. cancer deaths.
One out of 18 people in this country will develop colorectal cancer in their lifetime. Because of disproportionate screening, minorities, particularly African-Americans and Hispanics, are more likely to be diagnosed with colorectal cancer in advanced stages. As a result, death rates are higher for these populations.

Eighty-eight cents of every dollar raised is spent directly on program services for victims. RAINN is supported by thousands of individual donors and corporate partners.
- About 13.3% of victims are black, compared to 12.3% of the population.
- Blacks are about 10% more likely to be attacked than whites.
